Courtney and Luis’s love story began in 2012 through a mutual friend. At the time, Courtney was just 23 years old, while Luis was significantly older. The age gap of nearly two decades didn’t deter Luis, who had already experienced marriage and fatherhood by then. Initially, Courtney wasn’t interested in pursuing a romantic relationship with someone so much older, but Luis’s persistence eventually won her over.

Fast forward to March 2016, when I discovered I was pregnant with our son Kai. Life took an unexpected turn – within eight weeks, I lost my older brother and was let go from my job. Amidst the chaos, Luis remained my rock, offering words of comfort that ultimately led him to propose marriage just days after my brother’s passing. Our wedding ceremony, attended by a few close family members, was a heartfelt celebration of our unconventional love story.
As I reflect on that fateful day, I realize that sometimes life’s unexpected twists can lead to the most meaningful moments, and Luis’ proposal remains a cherished memory.
Wedding Ceremony
As the planning process unfolded, it was a surreal experience, as if my childhood dreams were coming true. Growing up, I fantasized about a fairytale-like wedding, complete with a stunning gown and a walk down the aisle. However, given the circumstances of my life, I never thought that dream would become a reality. That changed when Luis surprised me on my 28th birthday by planning a destination wedding in Punta Mita, Mexico at The W Hotel.
He single-handedly brought every aspect of my ideal celebration to life – the dress, shoes, and location, making it an unforgettable experience. Fast forward to our second anniversary, April 28, 2018, we exchanged vows with 60 closest friends and family in a truly magical ceremony. As I reflect on that special night, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for having had the perfect day to celebrate our love.
